In the last few years, I have been asked time and again what SAP Basis is and what we SAP Basis administrators do in our daily work. With this blog post I would like to provide a little insight into exactly this area of work.

Mining is one of the most misunderstood things about cryptocurrencies. Most people believe that mining is a process in which a cryptocurrency is created. But that is wrong. Mining is a process in a decentralised system to build consensus. Consensus means consent and agreement on what happened and what didn't. In a central system, the central institution does that. For example, a bank with all its advantages and disadvantages. In a decentralised system, the Community decides. To avoid any disagreements, "Mining" is used as one of the possibilities.

If regulations for the standardisation of SAP systems or tasks and procedures are in place, they must also be consistently complied with and their compliance must also be verified. In case of non-compliance, for example due to project influences or technological problems, the exception must be returned to the standard in a timely manner. The HANA database (in-memory database) is an in-house development by SAP and brings with it numerous innovations. For example, it is automatically monitored by the system. In addition, it stores not only operational (user-generated) data, but also system data for controlling application content as well as configuration tables.
