Challenges in authorization management
New AP implementation, S/4HANA conversion or redesign of an SAP authorization concept - the complexity has increased enormously and requires a clear structure of processes, responsibilities and the associated technical implementation. New technologies such as Fiori and Launchpads are challenges and reasons to rethink authorization structures.

As a role developer, you can now select the specific application in the PFCG transaction from the list of web dynpro applications published by the software developers on the Menu tab and enter it in the Role menu. To generate the role profile, switch to the Permissions tab. There you can check the concrete value expressions of the S_START permission fields and, if necessary, the additional relevant authorization objects for this Web application and supplement them if necessary. Finally, you must generate the role profile as usual.
Maintain generated profile names in complex system landscapes
In principle, the SAP_NEW permission should not be granted in the production system. The Profiles tab displays the generated profiles in the user master record that are associated with a specific user. Here you can also assign manually created permission profiles from the transaction SU02 - even without direct role mapping. In principle, the recommendation is to use the profile generator (transaction PFCG) to generate authorisation profiles automatically. Special caution is taken when you enter generated permission profiles directly on the Profiles tab, as these assignments will be deleted by matching user assignments with the transaction PFUD if no entry is on the Roles tab for the assignment. You have probably assigned SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW to users for whom there should be no restrictions in the SAP system. But what are these two profiles different from each other and why are they necessary?

In addition to your custom authorization objects, you must also express the other relevant CO-PA authorization objects in your users' permissions. As a rule, you must limit access to the result reports of the K_KEB_REP object to the result area and the report name, and limit the functions of the information system in the K_KEB_TC object, such as executing or updating reports. You also need permissions to maintain the authorization objects in customising the result and market segment calculations. To do this, assign permissions to the K_KEPL_BER object. In the CERKRS field, define the result area for which authorization objects are created, and in the ACTVT field, define the activity, where the action 02 is Create and Modify.

With "Shortcut for SAP systems" you can automate the assignment of roles after a go-live.

The SAP CO module is the module for classic controlling in a company.

The website www.sap-corner.de offers a lot of useful information about SAP authorizations.

An auditor can usually view the contents of defined tables; However, in order not to give the auditor permission to use the generic table tools, such as the SE16, SM30 transactions, etc.
